Hundreds of rosaries
The rosaries are a tradition of Christian pilgrims who leave their rosaries behind as a sign of their devotion. Some visitors have come to the Hill of Crosses from around the world, leaving their rosaries and other Christian symbols on the hillside. The rosaries serve as a reminder for future visitors to leave their own rosaries in lieu of removing the ones that have been left behind. The tradition of leaving rosaries on the hill of crosses has become so widespread that rosary strings now form part of the plant life on the hill of crosses.
