God’s Mary
The Hill of Crosses, also known as Karmelitska Gora, is a site in Lithuania where people have been placing crosses and other religious symbols for centuries. The centerpiece of the Hill of Crosses is a statue of the Virgin Mary, which was built in the 1980s. God’s Mary represents the Christian heritage of the Hill of Crosses and has become a national symbol of Lithuanian identity. The statue is visited by thousands of people every year, including many pilgrims who come to pray and ask for miracles. The statue was built by a Lithuanian artist, who based it on a traditional white Madonna design.
